Mullvad MCP server — open source build

Built an MCP (Model Context Protocol — a standard that lets AI assistants talk to external tools) server for Mullvad VPN (a privacy-focused VPN service).

The idea: instead of opening a GUI or typing CLI commands every time, you just tell Claude (or any MCP compatible agent) "connect me to Sweden" or "am I leaking?" and it handles it.

Under the hood it wraps the mullvad CLI via subprocess — no direct API calls, no config file hacks, no credentials stored anywhere. Every tool just shells out to the binary you already have installed.

What it can do:

Connect/disconnect/reconnect with optional country, city, or hostname targeting

Check for DNS/IP leaks via am.i.mullvad.net

Toggle kill switch (blocks all traffic if VPN drops), DAITA (Defence Against Traffic Analysis — obfuscates traffic patterns), multihop (routes traffic through two servers), and obfuscation modes like Shadowsocks

Full server browsing — list countries, cities, servers with filters

Built with Python + uv, compatible with Claude Desktop, Cursor, and Windsurf.
